Beat the Heat! Trip to Ocean Shores
Weather is different on the coast. We left the 90-degree heat and sunny skies of Olympia to find the fog bank once we got near the Pacific Beach. The air was cool but pleasant as we walked in the gray mist. Children were digging in the sand and sandpipers searched the shoreline for treats. As we were leaving, the fog started to lift and we could see blue sky.
Ocean Shores is an easy 2-bus trip from Olympia. We took the Gray’s Harbor Transit bus route 40 to Aberdeen’s transit station where we transferred to bus route 50. This bus goes through Hoquiam Station and then does a loop that goes through Moclips, Pacific Beach, Copalis Beach, Ocean City, North Beach Casino and Ocean Shores. Beat the Heat! Summer in Thurston County
As I write this post, it is 91 degrees. Summer has arrived in Olympia… it’s time to go to the park, by bus!
Summer encourages Olympians to seek outdoor adventures. With that in mind, here are some ideas for trails and parks in the greater Olympia area, and how to get there via Intercity Transit bus. All Intercity Transit buses (including the Dial-a-Lift vans) have bikes racks, so take your bike to expand your adventures.

Feeling Groovy
OK. This is not Olympia. Once you get into riding the bus, you begin to look for opportunities wherever you are. I was in NYC visiting family and my nephew Brad told me about an express bus (QM 2) into Manhattan. So, I went in search of the bus stop. People were helpful so it did not take long to find it. It runs every half-hour.
